Brent to launch new games genres at EAG

Leading machine distribution company Brent Sales will go into 2010 promoting two new product categories. The categories, which have been branded as 'Fun With Prize' and 'Adrenaline Based Content' represent Brent's vision for the business over the mid-term. The Fun With Prize or FWP sector encompasses prize redemption, ticket redemption and prize every time products, with Adrenaline Based Content (ABC) the umbrella term for participation games which provide players with a compelling out of home experience. Both categories, together with a much greater emphasis on prize retailing and licensed products, form a central part of Brent's major game presence at January's debut EAG show (ExCel Centre, London 26-28 January).

Explaining the thinking behind 'Fun With Prize', Brent's Commercial Director John Brennan said: "Fun With Prize has grown out of our extensive games portfolio and relates to high performing products such as Barber Cut, Clena-Flex and Photo Finish, as well as games such as the third generation imaging kiosk BlaBaBooth, which links orthodox photo-booth features with show and share applications on social media including Facebook.

"As games developers have become more creative in their approach to providing out of home entertainment which delivers a return in addition to just an experience, we believe there is a real need to provide the focus which you get with a new category. Players are 21st century consumers and increasingly want something tangible and physical from their expenditure, hence the popularity and significance of Fun With Prize games which we believe will eclipse the low stake gaming sector both in terms of machine numbers and earning potential."

Brent's introduction of Adrenaline Based Content as a category reflects the emphasis it places on sourcing and delivering best of breed products for players. John Brennan explained: "The advances that have been made in home entertainment mean that the only experience-based games that work in arcades are those that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up either through the use of cutting edge technology and/or the inclusion of a strong competitive edge. Quite simply there's no longer any room for second best."

One of the most striking examples of Adrenaline Based Content is H2Overdrive, the powerboat-themed racing game from the Raw Thrills stable distributed exclusively by Brent outside North America. John Brennan believes that the success of the product lies in the attention to detail applied by Raw Thrills. He explained: "H2Overdrive compares very favourably with its illustrious stable mates such as The Fast And The Furious, Super Bikes and Big Buck Hunter, all of which we have distributed with great success. Every innovation seen in the game has been introduced to deliver an enhanced player experience which is why it is destined to be such a big success."

Other notable examples of Adrenaline Based Gaming being shown by Brent at EAG include the futuristic Razin' Storm, described as 'the modern arcade's most immersive light gun battle experience', Tank! Tank! Tank!, the full simulation battle game with pneumatic moving seats [pictured here] and the Dead Storm Pirates, which will be shown in Standard and full movement DX versions.
